Meeting with Innovation Norway, India
On Wednesday 3th of February, Helge Tryti, director of Innovation Norway India offices, and Avanish Verma, Market Advisor- Renewable, Energy and Smart Cities, visited NCE Smart’s offices in Halden. The result was a creative meeting where NCE partners like Tiny mesh, eSmart Systems and Solarcity participated and shared ideas and experience.
India is a rapidly growing market with great opportunities for Norwegian industry, and the purpose of the meeting was to discuss tactical opportunities for penetrating the Indian grid and market: Internationalization of member companies of NCE in India Smart Grid Misson and possible opportunities for NCE memebers in India Smart City Mission.
Innovation Norway India-team shared updates on the Power Tariff policy in India: Indian Cabinet has approved much awaited changes in Tariff Policy aimed to create 4 E’s in Electricity sector namely Electricity for all, Efficiency to ensure affordable tariffs, Environment for a sustainable future, Ease of doing business (to attract investments and ensure financial viability).
Innovation Norway has newly opened a new office in Mumbai, in addition to the New Dehli-office.
According to Innovation Norway, India has planned 100 smart cities over the next 7 years . A National Smart city mission has been initiated by the Indian government and 98 cities have submitted their smart city proposal . Out of these 98 cities, 20 cities has been shortlisted for Phase I of implementation and funding. IN, India team is preparing a smart city report, which IN would be sharing with you shortly on completion. It is expected that a total of 75.000 million USD of investment would be required (and private sector would account for almost 80% of this).
